How We Define Eligible Organizations

Academic Health System

For membership purposes, an academic health system is defined as a health system that directly owns an MD- or DO-granting school of medicine and operates teaching hospitals and comprehensive, multi-specialty outpatient practices within a unified organizational structure supporting the tripartite mission of clinical care, medical education, and research.

Freestanding Children's Hospital

For membership purposes, a freestanding children's hospital is defined as an independently governed pediatric health system that operates inpatient and comprehensive, multi-specialty outpatient pediatric services within a unified organizational structure and is dedicated exclusively to the care of children. Eligible freestanding children's hospitals must maintain an accredited pediatric residency training program and must not be owned or operated by a larger adult hospital system.

How to Apply

If your organization meets the criteria above, you may submit an application for consideration. Applications are reviewed by the Patient Access Collaborative Board of Advisors. If approved, an invitation to join is extended.

Membership is for organizations only; consultants and contractors are not permitted. An unlimited number of employees of member institutions can participate.
